The European Golden Shoe race: Messi, C. Ronaldo is left behind

Despite being in the top of the European Golden Shoe race, both Messi and C. Ronaldo are being left with considerable distance.

Over the weekend, C.Ronaldo contributed 1 goal in the match against SPAL in Serie A, while Messi glowed when scoring 4 goals against Eibar in La Liga. That helped the two players continue to maintain their position in the group leading the European Golden Shoe race.

Currently, C.Ronaldo is ranked 3rd when he has 21 goals, equivalent to 42 points (difference of 2 points / table). Meanwhile, Messi now has 18 goals and 36 points, ranked 6th in this race.

However, they were still left behind by the leaders. As of this moment, Lazio striker Ciro Immobile is leading the way with 54 points after scoring 27 goals for Lazio.

In second place is Robert Lewandowski with 50 points (25 goals for Bayern Munich). Meanwhile, despite having 25 goals like Robert Lewandowski, Erling Haaland ranked only third (on the same level as C. Ronaldo and Timor Werner) with 42 points. Because, this player has scored 9 goals for Dortmund (with a coefficient of 2 points / table) and 16 goals for Salzburg (coefficient of 1.5 points / table).

Other players in the top 10 are Lukaku (7,34 points), Jamie Vardy (7,34 points), Aubameyang (7,34 points) and Aguero (10,32 points).

Of course, the chances of C.Ronaldo and Messi winning the Golden Boot remain but it requires them to score a lot of goals in the sprint stage. Erling Haaland is also considered as a strong candidate when it shows the terrible scoring style in Dortmund shirt (scoring 9 goals in 6 matches in the Bundesliga).
