Officially postponed Euro 2020

In a meeting of the federations, UEFA agreed to postpone Euro 2020 to 2021.

UEFA has held online meetings with member federations. This is an extraordinary meeting of UEFA to discuss plans to organize tournaments such as Euro 2020, Champions League, Europa League.

And the final decision has been made. Accordingly, UEFA decided to leave Euro 2020 to 2021 because of concerns about the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic.

Although the meeting has not ended, the initial information has been revealed by the Norwegian Football Federation.

The official Twitter page of the Norwegian Football Confederation confirms: “The Euro 2020 tournament will officially move to 2021. It will be held from June 11 to July 11 next year. We will get more information about this case “.

The decision was made by European Union members concerned that the league would not end as scheduled.

Currently, many major league leagues such as the Premier League, La Liga, Ligue 1, Serie A or Bundesliga have officially been postponed until at least the end of this month. However, in the event that the disease situation does not improve, the ability of these tournaments will have to stop playing more.

Many experts worry that the tournament may be postponed to May, even June in the context of today’s complexity.

Moreover, most of the competition points (12 points) that UEFA chooses to host Euro 2020 such as England, Germany, Netherlands, Italy, Spain … are in the epidemic area. Therefore, it is difficult to choose a new alternative location when the “ghost” of Covid-19 has spread throughout Europe.

Meanwhile, according to a source from the Guardian, UEFA wants the European leagues to be completed before June 30. Because if it continues, it will affect the preparation for the new season and affect the plan to organize UEFA tournaments next year.

The Telegraph source said that UEFA wants the Champions League, Europa League as well as the European leagues to restart at the same time, in order to avoid having problems in the preparation of the clubs.
